Removing barriers and maximising performance

Jane qualified as an English teacher in 1993 and has spent over 25 years teaching in secondary schools and at Brockenhurst College. She has taught English at GCSE and A level and worked as a freelance examiner for Edexcel. Jane holds specialist qualifications for supporting neurodivergent students. She has had extensive training and experience in teaching students with dyslexia, ASC and Asperger’s Syndrome, as well as those suffering from anxiety issues. Jane will establish a supportive, friendly rapport with your child to help them maximise their academic potential.

Services include:

Teaching and supporting English (Language and Literature)

•Home education and EHCP mentoring

•Teaching study skills (time management, revision techniques, mind-mapping and essay structure)

•Specific learning difficulties – literacy support  (including spelling, punctuation and grammar) using specialist  multisensory techniques)

•Managing exam related anxiety

•Supporting self-esteem and motivation

•Help with home schooling

•Liaising with school or college about your son or daughter’s learning needs

•Advice about university applications and help with Personal Statements (and the Disabled Student Allowance, where applicable)

Rates

Specialist 1-1 dyslexia/autism/neurodiversity tutoring: £60 per hour*; £85 for 1.5 hours.

GCSE English tutoring: £60 per hour*; £85 for 1.5 hours.

Teaching at the student’s home – by negotiation, to take account of travel time.

Payments and Cancellation policy

All sessions must be paid for either at the start of the session or in advance.

Student cancellation

It is inevitable that sometimes you will need to change or cancel an appointment. 

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel a session and at least 48 hours.

If more than 48 hours’ notice is given, your appointment can be rescheduled.. 

Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at half of the full rate.

Tutor cancellation

In the unlikely event that I am unwell at short notice, an alternative slot will be offered as soon as possible.

Regular appointments

You may prefer to have a regular appointment but please note that although I will endeavour to accommodate individual needs, I cannot guarantee that this time/day will be available every week. This may be due to outside commitments or annual leave.
